The Covid 19 pandemic has had a large impact on each of our lives in numerous ways and for some of us, it has had a direct impact on our main source of income, by possibly having to leave our current job and start our own business from home.
Although most of us have returned to our regular jobs, some of us still choose to have our own business, whether it’s for flexibility, passion, or simply extra income, which has an impact on our lifestyle at home.
This brings us to my first point of how to run a successful business from home. Not all businesses simply require a computer and internet access. In fact, a lot of the small businesses started from home, involve some sort of craft, which requires not only a variety of materials but also both space to store the materials and most importantly a comfortable workspace. Without a proper workspace, you could start to feel disorganized or distracted, which has a big impact on your productivity.
The next component involves time. Although one of the perks of having your own business, means that you have more flexibility throughout the day, it is important to still have some structure in regards to how much time you devote to your business every day. Even if business is slow, take the time to perfect some skills, organize your workspace, take inventory, brainstorm new ideas, and continue to have a strong social media presence.
Running a small business from home means that you get very little exposure to the public eye and that is the main reason why having a strong social media presence can have a direct impact on the success of your business. Potential customers and clients need to have exposure to your products or services and more than often, it will require multiple views for the post or ad to have the desired effect. Social media is a great resource for reaching customers far and wide so use it to your advantage.
