The holidays are going to be here before you know it, and if you’re anything like me, you’re also health conscious. Luckily, you can still enjoy the holidays while maintaining your health. I’ve put together several tips for staying healthy during the holidays.
Do Not Overeat
It’s tempting to fill up on holiday cookies, gingerbread and other treats. However, doing so can result in weight gain, feeling sluggish and a stomachache. Do you really want to spend your holidays feeling sick or guilty? If you’re going to treat yourself to any sweets this season, be sure to do so in moderation. Remember, you can find healthier alternatives to these treats.
Stay Active
Sure, walking about the mall or shopping center can burn calories, but does it burn enough calories? Instead of using the holidays as an excuse to skip working out, use it as motivation to stay active. You can think of it as a head start on your New Year’s Resolution. Whether you’re using the stairs at work, exercising at home or hitting the gym, it’s important to stay active.
Drink In Moderation
Eggnog, champagne and wine coolers are great for holiday parties, but you need to watch your consumption. When you limit your drinks, you’re avoiding weight gain, a hangover and damage to your body. You don’t want to spend the holidays feeling sick. Besides, the holidays are not going to be much fun if you don’t drink responsibly.
Get Some Rest
You’re not doing yourself any favors by running yourself ragged to finish your party planning and Christmas shopping. You need to take the time to recharge your batteries, and make sure you’re getting enough sleep at night. Getting some rest is essential to your physical and mental health.
I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait to celebrate the holidays in my HighPoint Town Square apartments.
