Bird Haven Greenhouse & Conservatory
Bird Haven Greenhouse & Conservatory sits on three acres of land within a 660-acre site, comprised of Pilcher Park and Higginbotham Woods. It is located at 225 N Gougar Rd, Joliet, IL. They offer year-round attractions that are fun for all ages with a tropical house, cacti room, and show house. They are open from 8 AM – 4:30 PM, 7 days a week and are closed on holidays. Isle a la Cache
The Forest Preserve District of Will County’s Isle a la Cache Museum is located within Isle a la Cache and offers public programs, school and youth group programs. The Museum is also open Tuesday through Sunday for the public to enjoy exhibits from the Great Lakes fur trade, and purchase picnic, camping, and dog park permits. The preserve provides a parking area and access to the Des Plaines River for fishing and canoeing/kayaking and the 10.81-mile, paved/limestone Centennial Trail is ideal for bicycling, hiking/running, and, in the winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The preserve is open 8 AM to sunset. Isle a la Cache is located on Romeo Road/135th Street, east of Route 53 in Romeoville. Pilcher Park Nature Center
If you and your family enjoy nature, be sure to visit Pilcher Park Nature Center! Pilcher Park offers playground areas, picnic grounds, scenic hiking trails, bicycle trails, cross country ski trails, as well as a nature center which includes displays about local wildlife. Pilcher Park Nature Center is located at 2501 Highland Park Dr and they are open from 10 AM-2 PM, 7 days a week. Visit the website for more information
Bronkberry Farms & Greenhouse
Located at 18061 South Bronk Road
Plainfield, Bronkberry Farms is free to the public with room for picnics on the lawn and a petting zoo with some adorable goats and chickens! They also offer free story time on Wednesdays at 10am! They will be opening for the season on April 22nd through October from 9 AM – 6 PM and will be closed on Mondays. Family Fun Zone
Located at 2333 Theodore St, Crest Hill, Family Fun Zone is the perfect place for kids under 14 years to have fun! Family Fun Zone is indoors, which means it’s perfect for all kinds of weather and is open all year around! They offer everything from roller skating including lessons, a laser tag arena, where the family can battle it out on the same team (or against each other!) and when you need a break, what better place than to head to the full arcade with redemption prizes!
