Saving money and going green, these are both great reasons to repurpose items in your apartment. You have the opportunity to take an old piece and turn it into something new. I’m thinking of trying this out myself, so I wanted to share a few of the ideas I found online.
Shipping Pallet Shoe Rack
It’s really easy to turn a shipping pallet into a shoe rack. All you have to do is stand it upright and place it against the wall. Then, you just slide the toe or heel of each shoe into a space, depending on the style of your shoes. You can even paint the shipping pallet to match your interior.
Sweater Throw Pillow
You don’t need to go out and buy new throw pillows when you have unworn sweaters. A little sewing can turn those sweaters into stylish throw pillows for your couch or bed. You can even leave the buttons on the sweaters for decorative purposes. Look through your closet for sweaters that aren’t your style, but would look great as throw pillows.
Tin Can Garden
If you have tin cans from coffee, tea or soup, use them as planters for your herbs or small flowers. You can place the cans on your coffee table, counter or window sill. The tins make stylish planters for your garden, and they’re great options if your apartment doesn’t have a backyard.
Dish Drainer Organizer
A plastic dish drainer is a nice addition to your entryway, hobby corner or work station. The dish rack keeps your mail, folders or projects upright and organized, so you can quickly find what you need. Use the cutlery holder for writing and coloring utensils.
With the right materials and your imagination, you can have a lot of fun repurposing items around your apartment.
