There’s nothing like a good work space to create a productive day. Living in an apartment doesn’t mean you cannot create your ideal work space. To help you get started, I’ve put together a few tips for creating a work space in your apartment.
Choose Your Space
The first thing you want to do is choose a space that works for you. Some people prefer to work in the living room, turning an unused corner or nook into their small office. Others would prefer to work in the kitchen, at the dining table or in a corner, away from the television or radio. I wouldn’t recommend working in your bedroom, as this is the place you rest after a long day, but you may find it’s easier for you to set up a desk in this space.
Consider Multipurpose Furniture
If you’re worried about taking up a lot of space, regardless of your apartment size, consider multipurpose furniture. A set of nesting tables is a great option for your living room, allowing you to slide out the tables for work, eating or entertaining. In your kitchen, you can always use the dining table or island between meals. A small desk in your bedroom can act as a work space by day and vanity by night.
Lose The Distractions
Regardless of where you create your work space, losing the distractions is essential to a productive work day. If your living room is the only suitable place for your work space, set a schedule that involves turning the television off when you’re working. If you live with others, and your schedules clash, consider a Chinese screen and noise-canceling headphones.
As you can see, setting up your work space in an apartment can be pretty easy. If you have your own ideas for a work space, you’re welcome to share them in the comments below!
